India vs England 4th test preview

Ajinkre Rahane, one of India’s top batsmen has been ruled out of the tour due to an injured finger. He has done himself a mischief while training in the nets. It is reported that he has fractured his finger and will not take further part in the series. He was struggling for form the whole series. He looks very unlike himself. Traditionally, he has been India’s go to man when it comes to handling pressure and making runs in against top teams.

It was a series to forget for rahane

Unfortunately this has not been his series. There are many names in contention to replace the right hander, but Manish Pandey is the favourite to replace Rahane. Manish Pandey has been impressing with his performances in limited overs cricket. However, if he is to secure a spot in the team. He has to make this chance count and really capitalise and make big runs. If he has any aspirations of cementing a place in this competitive team.

Manish Pandey gets the nod

There are many promising talents roaming in Ranji trophy at the moment. Pant, is a left handed batmen who is catching a lot of attention. He is averaging over 80 with an outstanding strike rate. Something which is not expected in Test format. Someone to be scoring runs at such a high strike rate. Best of all, he is only 20 years old, so he has a lot of time in his hands to improve. The only question that seems to be asked is, will he be able to replicate similar success into a more challenging international level. Where the pitches won’t be as flat and the bowlers will have a lot of tricks under their bags. Hopefully, he will live up to the expectations. But for the meantime, Manish Pandey is going to be in the limelight and his chance to prove a point.

England have a mountain to climb

India are currently 2-0 in the series. They are secure and can’t lose the series. However if they are reckless, they could still draw the series. Which would be a major upset considering their emphatic lead. From England’s point of view, this is a must win game for them, if they have any ambitions of achieving a respectable result in the series.

England lose Hameed for the series

The lions too have had a major blow, as their youngster Haseeb Hameed who was looking promising has had to leave the tour. Due to an injury. This is a major setback for them, taking into account the innings he played in the last test. He was the only English batsmen to make a substantial contribution.
