It’s finally here
After weeks of exciting cricket, the competition is finally coming to an end. It’s the IPL finale today, which will see the 2 times IPL champions take on a relatively new franchise Rising Pune Supergiants. After their horrendous campaign last year, it has come as a great surprise for RPS to get this far. There were some changes within the team and acquisitions of some world class players which has prompted this success. Controversially Ms Dhoni was removed as a captain and replaced by the current Australian team captain Stephen Smith. This created a revolt for RPS fans as the majority of them wanted Dhoni as a skipper. Despite this ordeal, Smith has been very successful.
Players to Watch out for Rising Pune Supergiant:
It goes without saying, MS Dhoni’s blitz inspired RPS to come victorious in the last encounter. After thumping 5 sixes in the last two overs, it changed the whole complexion of the match and shifted the momentum towards RPS.
Road to Final Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians at the other hand are currently the defending champions and they will be the favourites to regain the title. They have been very impressive again, managing to top the table. Despite the hiccup in the first qualifier, they were able to come out on top against a dangerous looking KKR side. Mumbai Indians possess a lot of firepower in their batting lineup. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya. If they are to come out on top today, they must all fire. Also, they were defeated by the RPS in the first qualifier by 20 runs. So they would have learnt from their mistakes.
Player to watch out for Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma’s batting has been very ordinary this year. He has not been able to make substantial contributions as we are known from him to make. He has averaged less than 20 for the whole campaign, which is very unlike him. He will look at the final as a great platform to flourish and silence his doubters.
Where will it be played?
It should be a cracker of a match with both teams fired up and hungry to be crowned as the IPL Champions. The match will be played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium at Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians Probable Line Up :
Lendl Simmons, Parthiv Patel (wk), Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma (c), Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Krunal Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah.
