The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with co-ordination with Head coach Gyotoku Koji had already announced the preliminary squad for the upcoming away match against Philipines. Nepal is taking on Philipines on 28th March in a match of final round of AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Koji had added 13 more players in the squad that won the the AFC Solidarity Cup couple of months earlier to make it 36.
However, many fans including Jagjeet Shrestha himself were surprised after not having the name included in the preliminary squad. He is currently playing club football in Australia and he was the regular member of Nepali Football Team. He had also missed the AFC Solidarity cup and his absence was completely felt at that tournament as Nepali team were weak at the flanks specially in the left. Shrestha expressed his sadness by saying that he is not a foreign player. Playing club football in other country won’t change the Nationality. Similarly, he also expressed his anger with emotions.
ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar said the players were selected by the head coach Gyotoku Koji.
